Biggest Moments Of 2024 That Will Shape Next Year

Hey Creator!
I’m writing this at 11 pm on a Sunday night after a weekend of festive lunches, so if I don’t make a whole heap of sense in the last newsletter of the year, you’ll know why.
Before I kick off, I just want to say thank you for your support during my first year of the Creator Toolkit newsletter. I intend on making this thing 10x better for you in 2025!
Now, it’s not quite creator news, but did you catch the new development in the ‘It Ends With Us’ drama? Blake Lively, who is the movie’s lead, is suing co-star and director Justin Baldoni over alleged harassment and smear campaign.
I bring this up because Lively’s team alleges Baldoni weaponised social media by planting theories on message boards and engineering online campaigns against her.
The online dislike for Lively in August overshadowed the film’s message. Could Baldoni’s camp have orchestrated it all?
Pretty crazy stuff if you ask me.
Here’s what you can expect in today’s newsletter:

TOP CREATOR MOMENTS OF 2024
2024 was the year that the creator industry, dare I say it, took over traditional media. We say that in the US election, movie premieres and sports!
Let’s take a look at the big moments that will go on to shape the next year to come.
7. Election Influence and Engagement
The 2024 US Presidential Election highlighted the power of Creators in shaping political discourse. Creators like Joe Rogan, Theo Von, and Alex Cooper didn’t just endorse candidates. They sparked debates, encouraged voter turnout, and mobilised millions. This election season showed how much sway creators have, and brands should be paying attention.
6. Jake Paul’s Netflix Success
Jake Paul has once again captured attention, as his newest Netflix project has reached 60 million streams, five times the audience of major events such as the Oscars and NBA Finals. This ongoing success highlights the growing impact of creators in mainstream media.
5. The Cannes Creator Track
The Cannes Lions Festival made a significant advancement by introducing a new category solely for Creators. This initiative highlights the vital role Creators play in shaping the future of advertising, marketing, entertainment, and culture, underscoring their increasing significance.
4. MrBeast’s Record-Breaking Achievement
In 2024, MrBeast broke records by exceeding the total US population in YouTube subscribers. His videos now attract views comparable to the Super Bowl, and his worldwide influence establishes a model for creators aiming to enhance storytelling effectiveness.
3. The Most Demure TikToker
Jools Lebron’s “very demure” catchphrase took over the internet, landing her 54 million views and a Verizon commercial. Her viral moment even earned “Demure” the title of 2024’s Word of the Year by Dictionary.com, showing how a single moment can transform a creator’s career.
2. Alex Cooper’s Record Deal
Alex Cooper’s $125 million deal for Call Her Daddy cemented her status as next gen media mogul. This deal reflects the increasing recognition and financial potential of creator-driven media.
1. Kai Cenat’s Streaming Domination
Kai Cenat made waves by setting a Twitch record with 712,600 concurrent viewers during a stream with Kevin Hart and Druski. With over 500,000 paying subscribers and major celebrity guests like Lil Uzi Vert and Snoop Dogg, Kai’s streams have become cultural events, solidifying his dominance in the streaming world.

READ: What will happen to the creators and businesses that rely on TikTok to generate monthly income if the US bans the app? Business Insider spoke to those users about their plan B and wondered how much rivals like Instagram and YouTube would benefit from the ban.
LISTEN: LinkedIn has stood the test of time for more than 20 years, not to mention it’s having a bit of a moment right now. Its founder likes to be a bit different from the classic single-focused tech-bro-CEO. Reid Hoffman spoke with Steven Bartlett the immense effort and sacrifice required to be an entrepreneur, as a member of the “PayPal Mafia” what makes them successful and his optimism around AI.
WATCH: I love watching the quiet moments that become big moments. Colin and Samir documented what goes on behind the scenes in the MrBeast Amazon Series. There’s this interesting moment when Jimmy feels the pressure of the controversy that has combusted from the show's making and asks Samir, “Am I evil?” Samir takes a moment to respond and says, “I think you’re different. I don’t think you’re evil.” if you’re like me and can only take so much over-the-topness from MrBeast but genuinely intrigued by what Jimmy Donaldson has built, then give this thoughtful doc a watch.
