Everyone Will Be Wearing Smart Glasses In Meta's Future 👓🤓
Hey Creators,
It has never been a cooler time to wear glasses, especially if you’re Meta.
It was Meta’s turn this week to share a new slate of products, features and updates at the Meta Connect conference.
Mark Zuckerberg stepped on stage wearing a T-shirt and embracing his new “style” with Latin words that translated to “Either Zuck or nothing”.
Maybe Zuck just wants you to know he’s thinking about the Roman Empire at all hours of the day.
Meta does want to conquer the digital space with its new Orion AR glasses, though 👓
In today’s Top Story, I’ll update you on what Meta announced this week and why it matters.
Here’s what you can expect in today’s newsletter:

CREATOR NEWS
🧨QUICK FIRE
TikTok is going toe-to-toe with Google’s search engine after announcing Search Ad Campaigns, which allow brands the ability to run ads against specific keywords. “52% of Gen Z used social media as their primary search engine for brands, products, and services” over services like Google or Bing. “Younger audiences are increasingly ‘searching’ rather than ‘Googling.’”- Net Influencer.
Tech creator Marques Brownlee, or MKBHD, is launching a new app called Panels, which has received mixed feedback so far. Users are concerned by the level of data entry required to use the app and 30-sec ads per wallpaper if they don’t want to pay $ 50 USD a year. “Part of building in public is getting mass feedback immediately, which is pretty dope—almost exactly like publishing a YouTube video,” MKBHD tweeted.
Creators have generated more subscription-based sales than ever before, with overall revenue reaching $350 million by 2025 or 27% YOY growth, according to eMarketer (explains why you’re seeing TikTok and Patreon introducing new subscription products).
How do you, as a creator, reach more people?
As announced at the company’s annual 2024 Connect event, Meta's main focus for creators is AI updates and cool new hardware.
You can watch Meta Connect here
Creators Will Get Their Own Creator AI
People who follow your content will have the ability to interact with the Creator AI version of you. Zuckerberg had a full-on conversation with a hyper-real avatar version of Instagram creator Don Allen.
Why You Should Care
This will give creators another tool to use to build relationships and communities with their audience. Will it enrich them, though? I’m not sure.
Automatic Video Dubbing For Reels
Following a similar feature to YouTube, Meta will give users the ability to have their videos translated into multiple languages with the same tone of voice as your own.
Why You Should Care
With this new tool, creators can connect with anyone across the world using the power of AI. This means that if your content is in English, you can connect with Spanish speakers (a massive market!).
Zuckerberg’s New Demo Glasses
Zuck’s new Orion AR glasses (not to be confused with Meta’s smart glasses with Ray-Ban) are like a hologram in the real world, which is operated using voice commands, hand gestures, and a “wrist-based neural interface” that lets users send signals to the device from their brains.
Why You Should Care
Orion glasses could revolutionise how creators work by making content capture hands-free and natural, integrating AR to add interactive elements, and streamlining the workflow. They enable better audience interaction, enhance remote collaborations, and even offer creative suggestions in real-time. Essentially, they could make content creation faster, more immersive, and more engaging.

READ: Interested in creating a brand influence on socials? Create a series. Lia Haberman writes, ‘Social is the new TV; How brands can make their content more entertaining.’
LISTEN: The Emmy-award winners Eric Goode and Jeremy McBride, creators of Tiger King and Chimp Crazy, spoke with Joe Rogan in an almost three-hour chat. Yes, it’s incredibly sad to know that 15,000 Americans have chimps in their homes (which is why I’ll never watch the series), but there are lessons in capturing raw moments and crafting them into a compelling story.
WATCH: Science journalist, Cleo Abram has launched a new show called, Huge Conversations and guess who her first guest is? Yep, Mark Zuckerberg. This interview is meant for video, and not only is the chat insightful, but it’s also beautifully shot and edited.
