Instagram’s New ‘Views’ Metric: What You Need to Know
What’s Happening: Did you hear Instagram is changing its metric system from “Impressions” to ‘Views’?
Instagram is shifting from “Impressions” to “Views” as the primary performance metric across all content formats—Reels, Live, photos, Carousels, and Stories.
Key Changes:
Reels: ‘Plays’ is now ‘Views,’ still counting every time a Reel starts or replays.
Photos, Carousels, Stories: ‘Views’ will be the primary metric, including repeat views.
Insights: The dashboard now features ‘Views,’ other metrics like ‘Accounts Reached’ and ‘Watch Time’ are still available but relocated.
I suggest focusing on two things: staying relevant by keeping up with trends and measuring real engagement through metrics like watch time, shares, and comments.
