It's Time To Build Your Reputation Online
Hello!
Welcome to the very first Creator Toolkit newsletter.
You are officially a part of the day one readers. I'm so glad you could be here.
You have subscribed to receive insights on the latest trends, hacks, and information about the creator economy. My goal is to meet your expectations so we can build something great together.
Before I jump into today's Toolkit, I wanted to share a life update with you.
After spending three years as Head of Production for entrepreneur Mark Bouris, I'm about to throw myself into something you would think is the complete opposite.
Think dads, comedy and socks on mics.
Today, I'll kick off my new job as executive producer for Two Doting Dads, a show that follows the parenting escapades of two good mates, Matty J and Ash Wicks.
You might be familiar with Matty J, who successfully secured a wife (Laura Bryne, co-host of Life Uncut) at the end of his season of The Bachelorette and makes the best content online.
On the other hand, Ash frequently goes viral on your feed, wearing a towel on his head and impersonating his wife.
I'm literally going from business to comedy. Surprisingly, the two are more alike than you might think.
Check out Two Doting Dads. The boys are hilarious and will only get funnier now that I'm on board ;)
Let's dig into the Toolkit.
OpenAI launches video model to create short clips from text prompts
OpenAI recently announced the launch of Sora, their new text-to-video AI model.
While only a few individuals currently have access to it, creators are already speculating on the possibilities it could offer.
However, the idea of AI-generated content has left some feeling uneasy, particularly given the potential for misinformation.
With a significant US election due at the end of the year, there is concern that this could lead to issues.
I find AI-generated content fascinating, but I struggle to connect emotionally.
Spotify is expanding its investment in video podcasts
Spotify has broadened its partnership with Riverside, a tool for recording videos and podcasts, by incorporating the service into its podcast production platform, Spotify for Podcasters.
This integration will enable podcast creators to record high-quality audio and video content remotely through Riverside and effortlessly upload it to Spotify.
Starting in June, Spotify will discontinue its in-house recording features for desktop and mobile and its Music+Talk feature, which allows creators to include licensed, full-length tracks in their podcasts.
YouTube announced the ability to remix a music video on Shorts, giving creators four remixing options: Sound, Green Screen, Cut and Collab.
Instagram is introducing a new filter for direct messages that allows users to view messages only from the people they follow.
What I'm into this week
Podcast
Diary of A CEO with Steven Bartlett interviewing renowned organisational psychologist, bestselling author, and global influencer Adam Grant.
I need to listen to that one again, but one thing that stood out to me was Adam's perspective on the idea of putting yourself online. Personal branding has a negative connotation, but when you're building a reputation online, you're doing the same thing as you would offline.
Thanks for being here, and let's chat next week!
