Mark Zuckerberg is on a ‘Superintelligence’ hiring spree
Mark Zuckerberg is personally messaging top AI talent on WhatsApp and email, asking them to join his brand-new “superintelligence” lab at Meta.
One of the wildest hires? It has been reported that Zuck has convinced Scale AI’s CEO, Alexandr Wang, to join Meta, a deal insiders say cost Meta the equivalent of buying 14 Instagrams.
What’s going on here?
Zuckerberg wants to build a top-tier team to revitalise Meta’s Llama model, which has apparently fallen so far behind that some teams are considering using AI from other companies.
Meanwhile, other AI giants are scrambling. Google promoted one of their senior AI leads right after Zuck tried to poach him, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman published a big “just so you know, we’re serious too” essay the day before Zuckerberg’s offer deadline for some senior OpenAI staff.
Long story short, Meta’s going all in on AI and Zuck’s doing it by texting people directly and promising they’ll sit right next to him at HQ.
It feels like Apple is being left behind
Apple had its big WWDC event this week, and typically, the reaction to these events is one of complete awe. But for the first time in a while, it feels like Apple isn’t leading, it’s reacting to its competitors.
What was Apple’s big reveal then? The long-awaited Siri revamp is nowhere near ready (they’ve pushed the timeline to 2026).
Instead, Apple unveiled something it’s calling “Apple Intelligence,” which are AI features that (for now) lean heavily on its new partnership with ChatGPT.

READ: Emerging media is replacing traditional media, and now we’re seeing it in real ad dollars. This is media produced by TV networks, cinema and news companies, which will receive less ad revenue this year than what is generated on social media and podcasts. The Guardian breaks down the numbers.
LISTEN: Divisive entrepreneur Alex Hormozi sat down with Modern Wisdom podcast host, Chris Williamson, for 4 hours to talk about their favourite thing - business. I’m a sucker for Hormozi (even if it gets a little bro-y). They talk about the ‘41 harsh truths that no one wants to talk about.’
WATCH: Heard of a comfort creator before? Well, Ryan Trahan is my version of a comfort creator, and he’s visiting all 50 US states in 50 days with his wife. This isn’t Ryan’s first road trip; he caught the attention of the internet in 2022 when he travelled from Texas to meet with MrBeast on the other side of the country with just a penny.
